The cultists of Blackstone Fortress: Escalation will soon be creeping across Kill Team battlefields with their abyssal devotion. Here’s a look at how they’ll work.

The Cultists of the Abyss are some of Chaos’ most hot headed devotees. Led by a Cultist Firebrand, they’ve got some real firepower at their disposal–doubly so when you consider that you can upgrade your standard Cultists of the Abyss to Gunners, which wield the grenade launcher and heavy stubber you can see them launching at some unfortunate explorers up above, or wielding right here.

Alright let’s take a look at the rules.

First things first, the weapons–which the cultists are merely a vehicle for. Between the Grenade Launcher, Heavy Stubber, and the Firebrand’s Hellfire Torch, they have some serious hurt that they can drop on an unsuspecting Kill Team.

The Cultists are, of course, cheap as dirt (and so are their lives), even the Firebrand tops out at 70 points at level 1. So you can keep throwing meaty bodies at your opponents until they’re overwhelmed.

However, not everything is spikes and chaos, because those meddling Explorers are also coming to kill team. These powerful heroes are a hybrid mix of Commanders, Specialists, and other things, drawing on existing Kill Team factions in interesting ways. Neyam Shai Murad, for instance, can be a Commander for the Adeptus Astartes, Astra Militarum, or Adeptus Mechanicus. And with her Quick Draw and Servo-Skull she’ll be shooting and hitting. A lot.

Or perhaps you’ll take Tech-Priest Daedalosus and Servitor X-101 and the bring the powerful Grav-gun and Hydraulic claw into battle.

Astra Militarum players can take Aradia Madellan as a Commander and Gotfret de Montbard as a Combat specialist. Aradia’s powerful psychic boost lets you ignore penalties.

While Montbard’s powerful Hacking Advance means you’ll hew through opponents if you’re rolling hot.

And that’s just a taste of what awaits when Escalation hits Kill Team!
