The Batman is currently filming and that means studio stills and on set leaks are starting to make their way onto the internet. The latest give more of an idea of what Robert Pattinson’s Batman will be.

These shots of a stuntman were taken at the Glasgow Necropolis cemetery in Scotland. Along with the marketing stills they give a pretty clear picture of the new suit. It’s stripped down and less technical looking; it looks like Bruce made it himself without the help of a secret R&D department. Given where this is supposed to be on Batman’s timeline, it looks right.

The first look at the new Batmobile comes from director Matt Reeves. It has a very different look than its predecessors. It’s ditched the military look from Nolan and Snyder and doesn’t have the curves from Burton and Schumacher.  The new, vey car shaped, Batmobile is a bit classic American muscle, a little Mad Max, a pinch of Italian super car, and a hint of the fins from the Lincoln Futura used in the ’60s era show.

Along with the new suit and motorbike, it says a lot about where the design of this movie is going. It’s stripped down and everything fits nicely with the more detective, less super-hero vibe Reeves has mentioned in interviews. I’m really curious about the era influences- in the ’90s era we got a mix of modern/1920s gangster/comic book fantasy, which was totally squashed by Nolan fully modern take. Reeve’s suit, bike, and car are such a mash it’s hard to read. We’ll have to see when the first trailer drops.

The Batman is set to open on June 25, 2021.
