Games Workshop is giving us a closer look at the model of the instigator of the Necron biotransference – Illuminor Szeras!

Psychic Awakening has brought us some fantastic models from Games Workshop and Pariah doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down. Today, we’re getting an even closer look at Illuminor Szeras and what this model is bringing to the tabletop!

Illuminor Szeras

For starters, this model is much larger than his previous incarnation. His base got an upgrade to a dreadnought’s base size and he grew a few sizes as well. Here’s his old model for comparison sake:

He was a much smaller 40mm base and he had a smaller stature for sure. Obviously, he’s been hitting the equivalent of the Necron Gym…which would be a computer parts store? I’m not sure. The point is he’s had a few upgrades.

One major upgrade are his new legs. They have gotten larger and more pronounced. The paint job also implies that they have been modified even further. If you notice his forelegs appear to have a darker, greenish hued metal to them – perhaps it’s more Blackstone that he has adapted to his own body. He’s also got a new waistline and hips to match.

Here we can see him poking at the biomass(?) of his victim. I have a feeling that whatever he’s doing, it’s more than just a genetic analysis. Szeras is shooting the victim with his glaive with one beam and this second beam is shooting the remains. It’s both a gruesome and visually striking effect.

His weapon is a much larger and certainly a more customized glaive. It’s much larger than a Necron Warscythe and also has larger blades on both ends. He used to be armed with an Eldritch Lance and this could be the same weapon – but clearly upgraded.

Here’s a better look at the bottom part of his weapon – along with a closer look at the victim. We can that whatever Szeras is doing it’s flaying the skin from his bones and more. You can see the green beam blasting the target and the effects of that in gorey detail. If nothing else, you have to agree that this is a really impressive sculpt and the paint job did a fantastic job with it!

If you’d like to learn more about Illuminor Szeras we’ve already written up an article covering his lore and some theories on what he could be up to.

The new Illuminor Szeras – quite the upgrade! I can’t wait to get a hold of this one.
