Like Blades in the Dark? Get your hands on some exclusive supplements today with the release of books that were previously Kickstarter exclusives.

When Blades in the Dark stealthed its way onto the gaming scene, paving the way for crews of thieves, dashing rogues, and ne’er-do-wells to scamper about in the shadows of a rich urban fantasy setting, it changed many things. It kicked off the Forged in the Dark genre, which has seen everything from regular fantasy adventures to sci-fi to cyberpunk hacks, and a great deal of that comes from the amazing Kickstarter supplements that were once only available to backers as part of the stretch goals.

That time is at an end though. As per a big announcement from Evil Hat, many of the formerly-exclusive supplements are now available to the public at large. These are some excellent supplements for the core game, hacks that cast a different spin on the game, and more. If you have ever enjoyed a game Forged in the Dark but missed the Kickstarter, this is one of the best opportunities to level up your game.

Some of the stretch goal authors from the Blades Kickstarter have published their work for public availability beyond Kickstarter backers. Find them here:

Band of Blades (by Stras Acimovic and John LeBoeuf-Little) – Join us on the road to Skydagger Keep. Our numbers are few, our supplies are low, and every operation is a deadly risk—but if any chance exists to make a difference in the outcome of the war, it is this cohort, the only remaining hope, this bloody band of blades!

Blades Against Darkness (by Dylan Green) – Blades Against Darkness applies the mechanics and structure of John Harper’s Blades in the Dark to the oldest and most familiar role-playing game tropes and narrative: looting ancient tombs and slaying monsters. The game is about a band of thrill seekers having Swords and Sorcery adventures in the frontier of a fantasy world.

Blades of the Jhereg (by Daniel Hiatt) – Play as members of the criminal organization of House Jhereg from Steven Brust’s Vlad Taltos novels in this playset.

Broken Spire (by Sean Nittner) – Broken Spire (formerly Broken Crown) is a Blades in the Dark playset about revolutionaries set on breaking the shackles of the Emperor’s rule. They may seek power for themselves, political change, or have a personal grudge. We’ll play to find out what political favors they must garner, what occult rituals they must perform, and which devil’s bargains they must accept to have a shot at the Emperor himself.

The Doomed (by Sage La Torra) – The Doomed is a playset for Blades in the Dark where you play superpowered crooks in a comic book world. It includes 5 new playbooks and 5 new crews all designed for playing the down and out in a superhero world.

Flame Without Shadow (by John Harper, Andrew Gillis, and Sean Nittner) – Play as the Bluecoats, Inspectors, and Spirit Wardens in this playset about special missions for the law enforcement systems of Doskvol.

Grifters (by Rob Donoghue) – Grifters includes Rob’s dissection of the “con” along with all the pieces you need to bring one to Doskvol and your table.

Illustrated Maps (by Ryan Dunleavy) – Detailed floor plans for buildings throughout Doskvol, choosing a new neighborhood for each new map. Each floor plan will have three versions: 1) a rooftop closeup, 2) a room layout, and 3) a detailed layout. I plan on creating 2-3 maps per month.

Rail Jack Playbook (by John Harper) – Play a Rail Jack (or a team of them) riding the ghost lines of the Imperium, or add a Rail Jack to your crew of scoundrels in Doskvol.

Scum and Villainy (by Stras Acimovic and John LeBoeuf-Little) – Scum and Villainy is a Forged in the Dark game about a spaceship crew trying to make ends meet under the iron-fisted rule of the Galactic Hegemony.

Vigilantes (by Sean Nittner) – Vigilantes is a Blades playset about playing the good guys, or as close to the good guys as you can find in Doksvol. The playset includes one new gang type, Vigilantes, as well as new rules for turf, claims, entanglements, downtime, and payoffs as they apply to Vigilantes.

Happy adventuring, cutters
