The north remembers to roll for initiative as Game of Thrones actors reunite to play D&D and raise money to help end child poverty.

During the weekend’s D&D Live events members of the D&D cast got back together (from a distance) to go back to the north and fight the terrors that reside there. On Saturday June 20th, Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton), Natalia Tena (Osha), and Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) with DM Kate Welch (she’s not in Game of Thrones, but you almost definitely know her from some of your other favorite shows) went to Icewind Dale to test their mettle and earn some money for charity.

This screenshot was taken in the middle of a minute long group giggle-fit.

While they didn’t play their famous Westerosi characters, they might have done one better: coming up with original, ridiculous, and hilarious disasters. Starting with introductions this stream was full of laughter, merriment, and delightfully terrible Welsh accents. And I think we can all agree that after the 8 season trudge through favorite-character-death and tragic story arc, it’s really really nice to see these actors making each other lean off-camera in laughter.

The charity stream raised money for Red Nose Day, a group who has raised more than $230 million in six years to help end child poverty. Funds raised from D&D were used to get food, medicine, and shelter to people in some of the poorest communities around the world. If you didn’t register for the weekend’s festivities and still wanted a way to get involved and help a great cause, you can still purchase the Snowy Owlbear Red Nose Day 2020 shirt here or Return to Glory, an adventure for 6-8 orc characters here with proceeds for both going directly to the Red Nose Day Fund.

If you missed the live stream over the weekend, the entire two hour session is on the Dungeons and Dragons official youtube. You too can see if the CG dragons prepared them for D&D monsters or if their time with the Wildings gave their characters and edge in the unforgiving cold of Icewind Dale.

Who was your favorite Game of Thrones Characters? Did they make it to the end? Did you know Natalia Tena is in a band? Which of their D&D characters was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Happy Adventuring!
