Age of Sigmar: Did GW Reveal the New Shadow Elves?

GW has been dropping a lot of hints of the reborn Dark Elves; now we have a name. Let’s put the pieces together.

For over a year now we have known that Malerion (the reinvented Malekith) has a faction of his own. You will recall the quote from Battletome: Daughters of Khaine about what he did with all the souls rescued from the belly of Slaanesh:

“those Malerion took to Ulgu were formed into something darker, something majestic and terrible at the same time.”

We’ve had lots of little hints and whispers of the new faction, only accelerating after the arrival of Lumineth Realm-Lords. Just recently we have seen the Shadowstalkers from WARCRY Catacombs, which have a very re-imagined Dark Elf aesthetic, very different than the other aelves. Still, they are labeled as Khainite, so perhaps not, or perhaps the new faction will have some overlap with Daughters of Khaine. Remember that both of these factions used to be part of the same army in Warhammer Fantasy.

Not quite Daughters of Khaine, not quite WFB Dark Elves.

Then Warhammer Community put out this post about the Warcry Warband, where they said something interesting. Eagle-eyed Reddit user FarCryFanCaesar grabbed this image which mentions…

“… the Khainite Shadowstalkers will find a natural home among their aelven kin, the Umbraneth.”

Once they realised it, Warhammer Community quickly removed the word “Umbraneth” and replaced it with “Daughters of Khaine”…  Note that “Umbraneth” would translate as roughly “shadowfolk”. Hmmm.

About Those Rumor Engines

While we are in the mood to talk about possible new Dark Elves, think about these unidentified pics from GW, which all make me think of beloved and long lost Naggaroth.
