Join us as we take a look at the new warbands coming in Warcry. It’s the Khainite Shadowstalkers and the Scions of the Flame!

Warcry Catacombs is going up for Pre-Order this weekend and that means a whole lot of new stuff is coming. We took a look at the models yesterday and now we’re getting a better look at the rules. I’m curious about those Shadowstalkers in particular as they are the first real glimpses of the Shadow Aelves – so let’s dive in!

Strike From The Shadows

“As you would expect from an elite, hand-picked band of aelven assassins, the Khainite Shadowstalkers are highly mobile, agile, and incredibly sneaky! This is exemplified by every fighter’s freedom to use the Shadow Leap [Double] ability, letting them essentially teleport short distances as they use hidden pathways to flicker between shadows in an instant. This technique is incredibly useful for traversing terrain when fighting above ground, as you can ignore any vertical distances, and for leaping deadly subterranean hazards such as flowing rivers of lava.”

That’s not the only trick in their arsenal either. The Shadowstalkers also all know the Dance of Death [Triple] ability that allows them to finish their disengage moves within 1″ of an enemy! That makes them extra slippery and also allows them to gang-up on specific targets…almost like a pack of assassins would be able to do.

The leader of the Warband is the Shroud Queen. As the name implies, she’s got some unique abilities to use. She has the Ensnaring Darkness [Quad] ability which can get double range if she bleeds her own blood.

And that’s just the tip of this shadowy iceberg! I can’t wait to see the rest of the warband and what this could mean for Age of Sigmar in the long run.

With Burning Hatred

“[The Scions of the Flame] stands apart from the other Chaos warbands thanks to the presence of their leader, the Blazing Lord, and three specialist fighters, the Brazen Champion, Immolator, and Inferno Priest. The Blazing Lord and Brazen Champion are both devastating in melee where they can make use of their Beheading Strike ability. As each has a critical damage of 6 on their weapons, using a [Double] 6 on this ability will give them a potential damage of 12 for each critical hit – enough to slay almost any foe in a single strike!”

The Scions also have two other abilities teased. The Immolator has access to Inferno [Triple] which is a bit of a crowd control ability. It can damage all nearby enemies so it will force them to stay apart or risk getting burned together. Engulf in Flames [Quad] is another warband ability that belongs to the Inferno Priest – and if you keep rolling those 6s you can cook just about anything with it!
