There’s a lot to love about this book – for D&D fans and cooks alike. Check out this tasty and easy-to-make noodle dish.

Heroes’ Feast – the official D&D cookbook – is available now. I highly suggest picking it up. The weaving of lore and food in this book is really well done. Each recipe has its own story, and each race in the book has its own distinct cuisine – all of which tie into the rich world of the Forgotten Realms.

The recipes aren’t an afterthought – they’re a great mix of dishes and baked goods that cater to every level of cook. The collection makes it very easy to plan a meal around your party’s current adventure and get immersed in the world you’ve created.

Kara-Tur Noodles

Hailing from the human empire of Shou Lung, this dish incorporates the richness of soy sauce and sesame with the bright flavors of ginger and scallions. This is an excellent mid-week meal and a way to add some flavor to game night adventures. It’s fast and delicious. It’s straightforward to scale up for larger crowds without a bunch of extra work (we got four servings as a main dish with the written recipe), and the sauce is flexible so that you can play with flavor intensity.

Most folks have the ingredients lying around their pantry; if you don’t, they’ll be available at most US grocery stores. No specialty markets required.

My biggest recommendation for this recipe is to be careful with your noodles. Rice noodles are delicate – they are easy to overcook and can break into many tiny pieces if you stir them too vigorously. I suggest going with tongs over a spoon or spatula when doing the final mix and serving.

Some substitution and addition ideas:

  • Video on how to peel ginger
  • If you want a different kind of heat, use siracha and/or gochujang
  • Sub the chicken for tofu – you can use the same marinade
  • Bulk it up with some raw, shredded napa cabbage
  • Add some crunch with plain roasted peanuts
  • Squeeze on some lime for an acidic kick

Author note: location of Kara-Tur was initially listed as the Sword Coast, which is incorrect and has been removed.
