Warhammer 40K: Death Guard Lord of Virulence Rules
Take a look at the full Lord of Virulence datasheet. What’s he packing and what does he do?!
We tackled all the previews of the Lord of Virulence already but now we have the Codex in house and have the Datasheet for him. And yep, he’s a nasty Chaos Champion:
He’s got the statline of a Chaos Lord in Terminator Armor, but with a Nurgle-shift. No big surprises there. We’ve seen his Twin Plague Spewer in other previews and it’s just as deadly as we thought. We also know that he’s packing a Plague Claw – not to be confused with a power fist. It’s got basically the same stats, only it ALSO counts as a plague weapon.
Ability-wise, he’s got all the Death Guard goodies: Disgustingly Resilient and Contagions of Nurgle. Plus a Teleport Strike because Terminator Armor. Oh, and that also comes with an improved +4 invulnerable save because it’s “Diseased” Terminator Armor.
He’s also packing two different auras. He’s got the “Captain” aura of re-roll hit rolls of 1 for friendly plague company core units within 6″. And he’s got the Master of Destruction which we’ve also seen in previews before. Combined, it makes for a pretty great support character.
He’s got a ton of the keywords you would expect for a Death Guard character. note the new Bubonic Astartes keyword – that’s going to come into play with the new Death Guard codex rules, too.
The ability to Deepstrike and fire off an auto-hitting 12″ range “heavy flamer” that can be pushed to Strength 6 with a re-roll on the 2D6 for the number of shots seems good. Will the Lord of Virulence make an impact on the Death Guard? Most likely. Get ready for some dumb Deepstriking Lords of Virulence!
