The new Book of Rust: War Zone Charadon has the new Fester Discipline for Death Guard – but how does it work and what does it do? Let’s take a look!

We got our hands on War Zone Charadon and it’s quite the book. Today, we’re taking a deep dive into the Fester Discipline and what it can do for your Death Guard.

Festering On The Terminus Est

For starters, you must be running the Terminus Est Assault Force if you want to use this discipline.

Which makes sense considering this is kind of their unique power set. In any case, the Fester Discipline adds 6 new powers to the Death Guard Arsenal. What are those powers? Here we go!

Gift of Infection – Essentially lowers the toughness of the target unit by 1 until the start of your next Psychic Phase. Unfortunately (or really fortunately depending on which side of the power you’re on) it doesn’t stack with other Death Guard powers that reduce Toughness. That said, turning T4 targets into T3 targets can be extremely beneficial. Or dropping a T3 target to T2…or T8 down to T7. You get the idea. Any of those big shifts that allow you to go from wounding on 4+ down to 3+ or better. This power could be pretty effective for the Death Guard.

Lungrot – Do you want an enemy unit to stay still? Well, this is about as close as you’re going to get with this power set. The target unit can’t advance, can only charge units within 6″, and they can’t re-roll charge distances. Considering you can peg a unit with this from 18″ away, you’re going to prevent the counter-charge for sure!

Pernicious Dose – re-rolls to hit for Plague Weapons. Simple but effective. Not a whole lot of flash for this one but it can be really handy to ensure your plague weapons are getting the most bang for the points.

Noxious Discharge – The Target unit suffers a mortal wound and all units within 3″ also suffer a mortal wound. This doesn’t hurt nurgle units. This could be a great way to snipe characters – hit a blog squad that’s within 3″ of a bunch of support characters, peg them all with a mortal wound. Simple and effective.

Rotwind – Target unit reduces their AP by 2 down to a minimum of 0. This is actually going to be pretty useful for Death Guard. Your troopers are already durable so making the enemy attacks less effective vs your armor save is just icing on the cake. Slap an anti-armor unit with this one and watch their shots bounce off your saves.

Accelerated Entropy – Does your model have a lower toughness than the Psyker casting this power? You’re going to have a bad time. It’s D3 mortal wounds if they roll higher or D3+3 if they double your toughness + roll. Gee, if only there was a power that lowered a targets toughness, too…

So those are all the Death Guard’s new Fester Discipline powers. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
