Get ready for a new being from the essence of Slaaneshi to show up on the tabletop – a pair of them in fact. Meet Dexcessa and Synessa!

It seems like we’re about to get to deal with the fallout from Morathi’s ascension in the form of two new “Newborn” greater daemon-types for Slaanesh. I’m just going to let this video do most of the talking:

“When the Hag Queen ascended to godhood in Broken Realms: Morathi, the resulting surge of power gave rise to an altogether separate entity made from Slaanesh’s pure essence. Dubbed the Newborn, this being fled the cave between realms and hid, growing and shifting until two massive daemons strode forth, each a dark reflection of the other.”

Meet The Twins

Synessa, the Voice of Slaanesh

“The softly spoken word to their sibling’s keening war cry, Synessa derives far more pleasure from the manipulation of the mind than brute physical excess. While commanding eldritch magics is as easy as a snap of their fingers, the Voice of Slaanesh’s true power lies in the mesmerising strength of their words, which are heard across a raucous battlefield by all of the Dark Prince’s devotees.”

Dexcessa, the Talon of Slaanesh

“Embodying the lethal, ferocious aspect of Slaanesh’s lust for battle, Dexcessa is a combatant of power and grace rarely seen even among the ranks of greater daemons. With wicked-sharp claws and the Scourge of Slaanesh in their grasp, the Talon of Slaanesh soars to ever-greater heights of blissful butchery from the moment the first drop of blood hits the floor.”

That’s a pretty impressive pair of models! Now let’s chat a bit about them. First off, this does look like it’s based off a single kit. They share enough parts that it would make sense that a combo kit would be the way these models will ship. Based on the desciptions, one will be more of a spell slinger type while the other will focus more on the martial prowess aspects. Both of them seem to have a thing for ‘excess’ – go figure. They have a pair of pretty interesting wing/fin things going on their backs and I like how GW used those details to make them similar but different. Combined with the horns, they each stand out from the other and that’s cool. Also, if you noticed in the video, their bases are oval and not regular circles.

I am a little surprised we didn’t get at least one crab claw on this model – but honestly just more surprised we’re getting another ‘Greater Daemon’ type model for Warhammer so soon. It wasn’t so long ago that we got Shalaxi Helbane/Keeper of Secrets model:

And even more recently a new Hedonites of Slaanesh book – and that wave also included a ton of new models. True, they were more for the ‘mortal’ follower half…But even still it was a big bump in numbers for this book.

You would have guessed that Slaanesh would be set for awhile. Well guess again. Apparently Games Workshop is ramping up the model count courtesy of the Broken Realms: Kragnos.

“Just what plans do these powerful scions of Slaanesh have in store for the Mortal Realms? You’ll need to read Broken Realms: Kragnos to find out where they interweave with the Seraphon’s venerable Lord Kroak and a certain family of witch hunters.”

Well now we at least know around when we can expect all these aforementioned kits to come out. Broken Realms: Kragnos, here we go.

That whole “Twinsoul” thing is starting to make a bit more sense.
