A new Secret Lair drop was announced over the weekend, unveiling a fantastically feline take on some of your favorite Magic cards. Check out Purrfection.

That’s right folks, get ready for a Magic: the Gathering set that will just as soon let you pet it as it will attack you with razor sharp claws with the intent of drawing blood. And you’ll just lap up every minute like the absolute fool you are because that sound that it makes is subliminally reprogramming you and you want it to know it can has cheezburger.

That’s right we’re talking about cats. Humans have been wrapped around their adorable little murder paws since the dawn of time. Sure we claim we domesticated them, but they’d kill you just as soon as look at you and probably hack up some kind of disgusting fur wad in your shoes, which you’ll interpret as love.

That deranged scowl is just the sign of being a big ol’ softie and we fall for it every time, don’t we. There’s no use resisting it. From memes present to past, cats have wormed their way into our psyche. So it’s little wonder that a new Magic set would be full of the furocious felines. The newest Secret Lair set, Purrfection, is just four cards, but they’re incredibly gorgeous reminders of why we put up with these four-legged little murdermonsters on a daily basis.

Illustrated by Ayako Ishiguro, each one of these cards captures something wonderful about Magic and cats. You get Chain Lightning:

Kodama’s Reach:

Heirloom Blade:

And my favorite, Generous Gift:

There’s an average of one cat pun per card, and each of these cats is probably already a Planeswalker. And I’d die for any and all of them, especially the cat in Heirloom Blade.
