Magic is returning to one of the all-time favorite planes: the shadow-haunted realm of Innistrad. And the new lands are terrifyingly gorgeous.

With a return to Innistrad in the works, it’s time once more to get ready to ward off vampires and werewolves and try your best not to think about the moon, which quite possibly still contains Emrakul, the Promised End. At least for now. At any rate, put on the Bloodborne soundtrack and let’s get ready for some gothic horror.

We start with the basics, and it doesn’t get more basic than the basic lands. And in Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow, the basic lands belie the horror-fueled themes of the plane. Just take a look.

They’re black and white, like an old horror movie, presenting a striking visual picture that hints at the decay and death and shadows that await. These are grey, cold lands bereft of warmth.

You can also see the mist and the gothic architecture that make Innistrad a creepy place full of zombies and eldritch horrors locked up inside the moon. This is a plane of torches and twilight, of secret lore and monstrous hunters. A plane of vampires and werewolves fighting each other.

The moon is ominous in the mountains, and the forests have definitely seen their share of horrors.

These unique looks for basic lands await in the upcoming return to Innistrad.

So stay tuned for more!
