It’s here! The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is officially up, and it confirms more than a few fan theories about the film.

The events of No Way promise to have a lasting effect on the Marvel universe moving forward.

On Sunday, a shoddy-quality trailer leaked all across social media platforms. The videos were taken down quickly by the team at Sony, but would never entirely be able to contain the leak. It’s unknown if this trailer release is a direct result of the leak. But those of us who avoided the leak are relieved to see the official product.

The trailer begins with a peek at our favorite comic book couple, Peter & MJ, enjoying some rooftop peace and quiet. It’s clear from their conversation that Peter’s identity reveal at the end of Far From Home is stressful for Peter, but had brought Peter and MJ closer together.

J. Jonah Jameson’s campaign to smear the Spider looks to be in full swing. Thanks to Mysterio, all of New York City thinks Peter is responsible for the drone attack, causing them to turn on their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

It looks like Peter will be answering some police questions, but it also looks like he’ll be equipped with defense. As he reads over a relevant file, could he be glancing up at his defender, Matt Murdoch?

Even with the help of friends, it looks like this is going to be a dark, alienating time for Peter. We see a street full of protestors yelling as he walks by, supported by MJ and Ned.

School will also be a hard time for Peter, but I can’t help noticing the absence of Flash Thompson in this scene. Tony Revolori’s character serves as a bit of a bully to Peter Parker, but he’s a big fan of Spider-Man. For all the shunning Peter is about to receive in the upcoming film, it’d be nice to see a show of solidarity from his high school nemesis.

So Peter goes to visit Doctor Strange, who is giving us his best work-from-home fashion, complete with Cloak of Levitation. As they talk about the kid’s situation, the film’s premise is pretty clearly laid out: Peter asks Dr. Strange to make the world un-know that he’s Spider-Man.

But as they’re performing the spell, Peter has second thoughts. After all, sharing his secret with Ned, May, and finally, MJ has been a positive experience for him. He questions his choice as Strange is performing the spell, and his second-guessing breaks the multiverse.

Yes, we’re excited to see the team-up of the Sorcerer Supreme and Spider-Man, but this trailer was stacked with baddies. And it looks like they’ll be led by Doctor Octopus, clawing his way out of the Sam Raimi Spider-verse and into the MCU.

The hottest appearance, however, is merely an accessory. Willem Dafoe’s menacing laugh as a ‘pumpkin’ bomb rolls across the ground is all but solid confirmation that the star will reprise his role as the Green Goblin.

In later quick frames, we get a peek at some Electro-style lightning bolts and a whole lot of moving sand that’s likely to be the Sandman. Between these appearances and a confirmed multiverse story, the No Way Home Sinister Six theory is on.

Doctor Strange astral-punching Peter out of his body seems a little sassy, but I can’t help but wonder if it has something to do with that magical-looking box in Peter’s hand.

These Doctor Strange string lights really tickled me. I would like to request these string lights be available in the Michael’s Halloween decor section, please and thank you, Marvel.

And lastly, the moment when Wong tells Steven not to screw with reality. I’m eagerly awaiting his “I told you so” moment, and I’ll certainly be hitting theaters to see how the story shakes up the MCU as a whole.

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17th.
