It’s spooky season, so let’s paint up some skeletons!

Originally when I used Army Painter, I thought that their paints were a little thin. It turns out that I was using them wrong. You just got to shake them well and they work perfectly. There will be more about that at the end of this article. The main point of this post is to show you the work that I did with a simple paint scheme and some fun minis.

Above are the paints that I used to paint up these miniatures. In addition, I used The Army Painters Strong Tone to finish off the miniatures.

If you have not heard of Wargames Atlantic, they make quality miniatures at an affordable price. These miniatures clock in at $34.95 for 32 of them.

This entire force of miniatures cost just $34.95 from Wargames Atlantic. If you want even larger armies, they have deals for people who buy multiple boxes of the same minis in bulk.

Painting the Miniatures

To start the minis, I primed them white with Army Painter Spray primer. The white paint that I used from the bottle 100% matches that spray primer. I will go much further in-depth on the process on my personal site, but for here, let me give you the quick of it.

For this project, I made extensive use of an Army Painter Wet Pallet. It kept my paints workable for hours (and in some cases days) after I poured them from the dropper bottles.
I slopped on the paint and did two coats of all my base colors.
I then used The Army Painter Strong Tone Wash to complete the miniatures. The wash really works like magic in improving the look of my minis without a lot of effort.

After finishing the miniatures, I topped the bases with some basing materials.

The Finished Miniatures

Again, if you want more pictures of these skeletons or more in-depth information on how I painted them, be sure to also hop over to my personal site after reading this article for a full tutorial of how I speed painted these amazing skeletons. For now, let me show you how these miniatures ended up. I am very happy with the results.

Check out these Skeletons. They look great!
The archer. So simple, yet so effective.
Since the box came with 32 miniatures, and I made units of 5 to 10 miniatures, I had two left over. I made one into an undead skeleton necromancer. I figured if we can believe that they come back to life and fight, why draw the line at casting spells.

Wrapping it up…

Can you believe that Wargames Atlantic sells you 32 of these miniatures for just $34.95? If you buy more than one box, they sell them for even less. You can check it out on their Skeletons Page. Pair that up with paints from The Army Painter and you have quality products at very affordable prices. Thanks to both for providing me with the minis and paint.

If you want a more in-depth tutorial of how I speed painted these amazing skeletons and more pictures of the complete minis, don’t forget to check out my article How to Paint 28mm Skeletons. You will find that over on Must Contain Minis.

I also have a video review of these miniatures that contains a scale comparison of them versus other manufacturers.
