Rules light, rage-heavy– the cyberpunk hack of apocalyptic RPG MÖRK BORG is here. Check out the cybernetic delight that is CY_BORG.

MÖRK BORG is a brutal RPG. So much so that the name is always typed in caps lock. It’s a fantasy RPG that is, decidedly, not about saving the world. In fact, while you play, the world (and your game) might end on a die-roll.

Now the same grit and grime come to a future full of greed, corporate overreach, transhumanism, and senseless violence. All of which you’ll find in the Kickstarter for the cyberpunk hack of MÖRK BORG, which is fittingly titled CY_BORG.

It promises the same aesthetic descent that a game of MÖRK BORG delivers. But it also brings you into the data-mined future of the nanotech apocalypse just waiting around a corner.

The World Ends. Again. In Style. The nano-infested doomsday RPG CY_BORG, where cybernetic misfits and punks are raging against a relentless corporate hell, is making some noise on Kickstarter.

Rules-light, rage-heavy. A fever-dream of tech, punk and fury. The cyberpunk spinoff game CY_BORG, based on and compatible with multi-award-winning apocalyptic heavy metal RPG MÖRK BORG, has launched on Kickstarter by Stockholm Kartell.

CY_BORG is about rage against climate collapse, out-of-control consumerism, the commodification of personal data, late-stage capitalism, transhumanism and senseless violence.

The Kickstarter obliterated its $11,535 goal (and all of the listed stretch goals) on the first day.

The team behind the hack is setting out to produce a 160-page core book with high-quality paper/binding, and gorgeous art enough to build a dystpoian city on. The original MB book is lush, and this promises more CY_BORG promises more of that.

You can also find gorgeous posters, a map of the city, a digital NPC generator, mission generator, and more.

CY_BORG Game Features

  • The book features a drive-by description of the megacity Cy after the Incident. Venture through the rotting slums where gangs, cults and military corporations wage war. Roam through the blinding scraper forests, neon cathedrals, and holo-shimmering arcologies of Central and the toxic industrial hellzones shrouding it all in poisonous (but CYstainable Planet™ Certified) death smog.
  • Play with quick and dirty character creation. A roll of the dice determines who your punk is, what they’re capable of, and who they owe money to.
  •  d66 Miserable Headlines make the rounds on the news and feeds with varying regularity. Each one heralds chaos and destruction, wracking the city until the cataclysmic conclusion seven headlines in.
  •  The game features a minimal, simple system designed to stay out of the way and to be easily modded and customized. Rulings before rules. MÖRK BORG at its core, with a few tweaks and updates.
  •  Optional rules and tables allow you to add tactical crunch to your violence with combat mods for cover, suppressive fire and more. Six classes for your class war, including the Forsaken Gang-Goon, the Shunned Nanomancer and the Renegade Cyberslasher. Tables add depth and character to your punk, like Style, Quirks, and Current Obsession.
  •  Random Generators facilitate near-endless play of missions, locations, corporations, cults and NPCs populating the accelerating apocalypse.
  •  Play with equipment of varying legality, like guns and specialized ammo booster plug-ins, intelligent body armor, cybertech, decks fitted with custom Apps, and almost-controllable Nano powers with their latent infestations.
  • The game also has over 25 foes to fight. Battle the countless soldiers of the SecCorps and gangs, or grapple with corrupted nanophreaks, soulless drones and cydroids, or state-of-the-art combat vehicles. Don’t forget the ethereal, digital apparitions classified as Ghosts.
  •  The introductory heist is called Lucky Flight Takedown. Scope and infiltrate the Lucky Flight Casino, clear the debt data and/or shut the whole operation down. Should be a quick and easy job, right? Just like Rotblack Sludge in MÖRK BORG, this part of the book will be significantly less visually chaotic and 100% focused on usability and easy reference at the table.
