The new Peacemaker playlist is every bit the air-guitaring nu-metal ass-kicking soundtrack we need it to be. Buckle up, f*#%ers.

After The Suicide Squad and both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, you could say that music adds its own level of personality to James Gunn’s works. The Squad had a phenomenal soundtrack that punched every pacing choice perfectly. And the music of Guardians accounts for a few actual plot points.

There’s no denying that the director has a gift for choosing mood music. And the upcoming Peacemaker is in the mood to kick ass and take names.

What’s On the Peacemaker Playlist?

This playlist is a loud, energetic buffet of Euro nu-metal, glam rock, and a little cowpunk. Bottom line: this is definitely an air-guitar playlist. Fans of metal and rock music are likely to find something new on this soundtrack, that’s for sure.

Many fans were surprised to find Japanese maid-themed metal group BAND-MAID on the playlist. But honestly, they shred. That seems right in Gunn’s wheelhouse.

“Pumped Up Kicks” Cover

The playlist features an unusual cover song, too. A hair-metal version of Foster the Peoples’ “Pumped Up Kicks” was recorded for the show’s soundtrack. On vocals is Ralph Saenz, also known as Michael Starr, lead singer of the comedy glam metal band Steel Panther.

This playlist tells us one thing we probably already knew about the show. The playlist and this show are a whole mood. And we are here for it. It’s the punch in the face 2022 needs.

You can stream the playlist now on Spotify.

‘Peacemaker’ will premiere on Thursday, January 14th exclusively on HBO Max.
