After three years, Chaosium is giving the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition starter set a new look in April. Check it out.

Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition is the most popular one yet. Over the last three years, it’s grown a big audience, online and off. Whether playing the game on roll 20 or watching popular streams, more and more people are delving into a world of Lovecraftian horror. Chaosium has recently announced they’ll be freshening up the popular 7th Edition Starter Set. So rejoice! There will soon be more opportunities to get murdered horribly without warning.

Gamers in the USA may find this especially exciting, as the the physical version of the Starter Set has been temporarily sold out for a while. In April this year, the 7th Edition Starter Set will be back in physical form. And with a whole new look.

That statement sounds ominous if you’re referring to one of the Elder Things referenced in the game. But for players and Keepers? It’s pretty exciting. If you’re looking to get started with Call of Cthulhu, the starter set is a great entry point.

It’s honestly one of the best RPG starter boxes out there. It comes with rules, dice, pre-made character sheets, and a lovely set of player aids and handouts. There are four scenarios all in all. One is a solo play scenario, designed to teach you how to play the game by…playing the game. The other sessions are designed for 3-5 players each. Any and all will give you a fantastic intro to Call of Cthulhu.

The new look is all of the same stuff you can find in the existing set–but with new box art commissioned from Lin Hsiang to mark the 40th anniversary of the game.
