It turns out mining equipment makes for a pretty good option for battle in a pinch. Check out the updates to the GSC armory!

When it comes to leading a rebellion/overthrowing a planetary authority/starting the apocalypse these cults can’t be too picky when it comes to weapons. They have to use whatever they can get their (many) hands (and also claws) on. In the case of the Genestealer Cults, that typically means mining equipment and makeshift weapons. Luckily, if it can turn rock into slag, it can also do a number on vehicle and body armor, too.

The Mining Laser

“Rocks in the 41st Millennium have apparently been getting tougher since the last Genestealer Cults codex came out, judging by the improvements to the mining laser. This deadly weapon, which can be carried by Neophyte Hybrids or mounted on an Atalan Wolfquad, now does D6 damage.”

The Mining Laser is (finally) a lascannon with 24″ range. While it’s certainly a shorter range it’s still going to hit plenty hard — just stick with your Primus to snag a re-roll of your hit rolls of 1.

The Seismic Cannon

“The seismic cannon has also been improved in the new codex and, whether you’re using it in short-wave or long-wave mode, your enemies will be shaking in those new socks that they got for Christmas.”

The two modes give you options on the tabletop. Need to deal with lots of targets? Go with the Long-wave shot. Need to hit harder targets? the Short-wave mode will make quick work of them. This cannon seems like a good option to add some extra umph to your units and will drop of one those pesky Primaris Marines in a shot!

Heavy Power Weapon

“Along with the heavy rock saw, heavy rock cutter, and heavy rock drill that the Acolyte Hybrids can take, the heavy power weapon carried by the Aberrants shows how mining and melee can go hand-in-hand. The entire squad now carries this weapon, so you no longer have to decide between the raw hitting power of the heavy power hammer or the reliability of the power pick – you now get the best of both worlds. “

Yikes! These new Heavy Power Weapons are kind of scary. Plus the Aberrants that are going to be wielding them also got a boost to their toughness AND another wound. I’d wager you’re going to see more of these on the tabletop and they are certainly going to be a hammer unit.

If you’re liking these weapon improvements there’s one more trick the GSC have up their multiple sleeves. They can overload those fuel cells and make their attacks even more dangerous.

Dangerous for both the target and the wielder, of course! Look, when you don’t follow the instructions sometimes industrial equipment explodes on you. That’s just Grimdark Science.
