The list for 2022’s Nebula award nominees is up – and this time, four different RPGs are up for the prestigious award.

The saga of “whoa RPGs have come a long way” continues! Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America announced the finalists for the 2022 Nebula Awards.

This year, tabletop RPGs have an impressive showing. Four different games are up for the Nebula for Game Writing, a category normally dominated entirely by video games.

This year, however, some impressive games and indie darlings take the spotlight. In announcement order, there’s Coyote & Crow, a post-post apocalyptic setting designed by Native Americans in a history where colonialism never occurred.

Granma’s Hand, a reimagining of Black comic heroes from the Golden Age of comics, complete with hard boiled detectives and rocketeers and other classic archetypes.

Thirsty Sword Lesbians, the classic tale of lesbians wielding big swords and bigger emotions. A sword duel is just as likely to end in a kiss as a killing blow.

And finally Wanderhome. This pastoral fantasy RPG features wandering animal adventurers exploring post-war worlds. Worlds full of interesting creatures.

The awards will be presented in a virtual ceremony on Saturday, May 21, 2022, that will stream live as part of the 2022 Nebula Conference Online. Winners in each category will be determined by the vote of Full, Active, and Senior members of SFWA.
