The Nethermaze is opening in Warhammer: Underworlds with new Warbands. And you can use them in Age of Sigmar with their new Warscrolls.

The three new Warbands that have been announced for Warhammer: Underworlds have free Warscrolls to download from Games Workshop. Let’s take a look at them and how they’ll work in other battles in the Mortal Realms.

All of these Warbands are taken as a set. They count as a Leader battlefield role and, while they are taken together, they are broken up into two separate units. All three of the sets are also Single and Unique.

The Exiled Dead

Faction: Soulblight Gravelords

Points: 220

Dientalos the Exiled isn’t a bad caster on his own with the ability to cast and unbind 1 spell. He’s got a way to heal, has a 5+ ward, and has a (relatively) good ranged attack. That said, he’s even better when the Exiled Dead are around. Deintalos has a ways to bring back models to that unit and keep them up and running. Additionally, when he’s around the unit, a pair of the models get a ward of 5+ as well.

The Exiled Dead as a unit is 6 models. Stat-wise, they aren’t particularly impressive on their own. Then again, they are essentially zombies so there is that — don’t expect too much from them. As mentioned above they get better around Dientalos. They make a good speed bump / bodyguard for him.

Skittershank’s Clawpack

Faction: Skaven

Points: 225

Slynk Skittershank is kind of mean! His Eshin Throwing Stars are 4 shots that can each do D3 damage. All of his attacks are also poisoned so on an unmodified 6 to hit they go straight to D3 mortals and the attack sequence ends. He can also run and shoot so that makes his threat range longer than you might think. Finally, his Misdirection ability not only allows him to “strike-first” but he can also retreat after.

Skitterashank’s Clawpack aren’t slouches either. Each one also has the same poison attacks for their weapons as well (which means it’s a potential bucket of D3 mortal wounds). They can infiltrate onto the battlefield and bring Slynk along as well. And they can run and shoot as well. Just note that only one of them is actually armed with the Eshin Sling. For the points, they are a ball of mortal wounds and a unit of assassins with funky weapons. I’m not a Skaven player but these guys seems like fun.

The Shadeborn

Faction: Daughters of Khaine

Points: 290

Slythael Shadestalker might look like a caster but she’s not. That said, she’s got some cool magic-like abilities. For starters, she can essentially warp around the table with her Shadow Leap. Getting to basically move anywhere outside of 9″ seems pretty good when you have a ranged attack of 18″ to play with. Additionally, when she’s outside of 9″ of enemy units she also has a 4+ ward and can grant that to the Shadeborn wholly within 9″ of her. Finally, her Mask of Shadowed Mirrors has the potential to shut down an enemy unit’s ability to issue or recieve orders!

The Shadeborn unit is a little less impressive. Their ranged weapons only have a 6″ range which seems counter-intuitive with their matching Shadow Leap ability. If it was a 12″ shot this unit would be pretty squirrelly to deal with. They aren’t terrible in melee but they aren’t packing any mortal wounds or rend. Honestly the Skaven unit seems like better assassins than them. The one plus side is the Shadeborn are packing a boatload of attacks for 3 models. But for 290 points I was expecting the unit to be more impressive.
