Something festers below the Realms, and I have a good feeling about it.

The next chapter in the Warhammer Underworlds journey has been revealed, and it looks pretty great. A brand new cadre of Eshin Assassins clashes against the sinister agents of the God-Queen Morathi. Aside from the awesome-looking new models, the expansion adds new rules to the game, allowing you even more tactical challenges and flexibility. But what does the new expansion mean for Age of Sigmar? Well, if old previews are to be believed, something we’ve been wanting for a long time.

New Skaven Battletome

The new Eshin assassins are the most dynamic Skaven models we’ve seen in a while, and it would be a waste to stop there. We know a new Chaos book is due late this year, and Games Workshop has dropped a few subtle hints. In the timeline post, the Chaos faction is described to be up to “mischief”, which is the word for a group of rats. While this isn’t confirmation, it certainly gives weight to the theory. As a huge fan of the Ratmen, it’s certainly a speculation I’m happy about. The Skaven are one of the weakest factions in the meta at the moment, and an overhaul would be great. Hopefully the new models mean an update for all the clans, even a small one, so Skaven become good outside of Clan Skryre.

Expanded Daughters of Khaine

We’ve seen the Khainite Shadowstalkers before in Warcry, but these models are not the same. We also know that the Daughters of Khaine are getting their new book soon. Combined with Arena of Shades, could these new models be the start of something new for Morathi? Maybe, but I’m not holding my breath. After all, the Kurnothi didn’t amount to anything (yet) so it’s a little unlikely we’ll see huge model support for the new Shadow Aelves. Unless, of course…

Malerion

A new breed of Shadow Aelves is the perfect launching point for a Malerion release. We are owed a new Order book alongside the Chaos tome, and using Underworlds as a launching point would be perfect. Now, I don’t know if I would call Malerion “vigilant”, the buzzword used in the roadmap post on the Community site, but he has been notably absent. Maybe he’s kept out of the greater wars to keep Ulgu safe, and now he’s on his way in! We can only hope.
