A Florida man spent 720 hours watching Marvel’s latest blockbuster to reclaim his Guiness World Record.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is Marvel’s first big hit since Endgame. Fans flocked to theaters to see it on a big screen. Some of us enough to see it more than once while it was in theaters. I saw it three times in two formats. It made $1.892 billion in theaters and is the sixth-highest of all time. At least $3,400 of that was from one guy. A Florida Man.

A Florida Man Breaks World Record

Ramiro Alanis broke his own Guinness World Record for the most cinema productions attended of the same film. In 2019 he watched Endgame 191 times. Between December 16th, 2021, and March 15th, 2022 he watched No Way Home 292 times. A total run time of 720 hours, or 30 days. For the first weeks he watched five screenings every day – 12 hours and 20 minutes a day.

In order to secure the record, he had to keep his eyes glued to the screen all the way through the credits, until the house lights came up. No napping, no checking his phone, and no bathroom breaks. This was verified by a theater employee at each showing. In combination with all of his ticket stubs that proved to Guiness he’d broken the record.

While pursuing the record Ramiro dealt with headaches and finding movie watching / life balance. Sitting in a seat for hours while mentally with work and family on his mind was one of the biggest challenges. Having to actively watch the same thing repetitively is sure to melt your brain for a while.

Ramiro wanted to be sure that whoever tried to outdo him and take the record would think twice before attempting it.

So who is his favorite Spider-Man after 292 viewings? Ramiro told Guiness: “Andrew Garfield and his redemption arc.”
