Necromunda: Ash Wastes is bringing vehicular combat to the game. That means some new rules to chew on. Take a look.

Get ready to figure out vehicle arcs once again because Necromunda: Ash Wastes is bringing them back to the Grimdark. The bones of Necromunda are based off of previous editions of Warhammer 40,000 — but with some changes. It’s fitting that the Vehicle Rules are following suit. These aren’t the only new rules either…

Ash Wastes Vehicle Profiles

Vehicle profiles might look familiar (or close enough) for players of a certain vintage. The Toughness is based on the direction the vehicle has been attacked from. Th HP is the vehicle’s Hull Points. Hnd is the Handling. And yes, some vehicles do have an armor save as well. The Crews have an additional statline like regular gangers.

If you watched the video above then you already know how damaging the vehicle works. There’s an extra step or two that uses the custom vehicle dice for damage location and the type of damage. It’s not entirely different from the damage dice for gangers. But when you lose all your Hull Points the vehicle is wrecked. It’s taken out of action along with the crew.

Vehicle Actions

“There’s a cool array of new actions available to each vehicle, which work in just the same way as they do for pedestrians. These range from simple actions like MoveManoeuvre, and Reload, to more complex activities like DriftSpin, and Move and Shoot. Double actions include Full Throttle and Ram. We’ll leave it up to you to guess what those can do…”

I think it’s somewhat self-explanatory with the new vehicle actions. Manoeuvre is probably the vehicle equivalent of taking cover. Drift sounds like it should allow you to turn or move without changing your direction. Spin sounds like it’s going to allow you to do a 180° to face the opposite direction. Move and Shoot …well, yeah.

Full Throttle sounds like a double move or boosted move while Ram could allow you to charge/do impact hits with the vehicle. We don’t know for sure but we’ll find out soon enough. There are also a whole new slate of driver skills for your crews to learn. That’s going to be interesting to figure out, too.

More New Rules

Along with the Vehicle Rules there’s also new scenarios to chew on as well as an entirely new Ash Wastes Campaign. These will provide new environmental challenges to deal with and new places to throw down with rival gangs.

Rules Updates

If you’ve already got the Necromunda Rules then GW has an update you can download for free. You’ll probably want to check that out even if you’re not venturing into the Ash Wastes as it will be the most current ruleset with errata for the game. It’s a pretty big document relatively speaking so take some time to check out all the updates.

There’s also an update to the Trading Post which you can download for free. This document also has some additional rules to check out as well.

Are you ready to make some coin in the Ash Wastes? It’s up for pre-order this weekend!
