This year still has plenty of anime left in the tank, and we especially can’t wait to see these feature-length anime movies.

We’re only a quarter through 2022, which means there is still plenty of year left and plenty more anime upcoming anime movies. These are the ones we’re most excited to sink our eyes into.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0

Yes, this one technically came out in 2021 in Japan and for North American audiences, it is in theaters right now. Those of us who have to wait for the streaming release have been eyeing social media with envy, and we can’t wait. This prequel to the super popular Jujutsu Kaisen series as been breaking records, selling tickets, and earning very favorable reviews. And it’s Jujutsu Kaisen, so the mix of fantasy, horror, and comedy should have us all looking forward to season two.

Suzume no Tojimari

We’ll be waiting until the end of the year for Suzume no Tojimari with its November 11th release date. But I think it will be worth the wait. Suzume lives a normal life in a quiet town until she finds a strange old door in an abandoned house. She’s pulled in by a mysterious force and ‘doors of disaster’ start appearing all over Japan, followed by the disasters they promise. It looks strange and spooky with beautiful art and a story that I can’t wait to dive into.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero

In the aftermath of the Toei Animation Hack attack, we’re not sure when this one will be released. It was supposed to have an April 22 premier, but now it’s on Toei’s “TBD” list. For now, we’ll just say Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is coming out soon. Following the 2018 Broly movie, this one will feature the still-growing Dragon Ball cast as they take on the Red Ribbon Army. Utilizing a different animation style than most anime movies as well as Dragon Ball as a whole, this looks like a movie that will be doing things a little differently. I can say from experience, the Dragon Ball movies are a ton of fun, even if you’re not the biggest fan of the franchise. We’re hoping for more information from Toei on Super Hero‘s release soon.

One Piece Red

While most One Piece movies are stand-alone adventures or two hours recaps of three-hundred episode arcs, One Piece Red looks like it will actually tie directly into the plot. Delving more into the history of Shanks, Luffy’s hat-fashion and piracy inspiration, this movie is going to clear up some questions fans have had for years. But it’s also One Piece so it will be fun and goofy. One Piece Red is slated for an August 6th release, and we’ll be ready with our straw hats on.

Bubble

Bubble is right around the corner with a April 28th Netflix premier date. But what is this colorful, less talked about movie? In an alternative version of Tokyo mysterious bubbles have broken gravity. So the people there, cut off from the rest of the world, have a giant weird playground to jump through. But they’re about to learn something about their world that will change everything. This movie looks very cool, has a powerhouse of a team behind it, and is coming to Netflix so soon that it should be getting a ton of buzz. So let’s get it some more buzz!
