Games Workshop covers the Bondsman Abilities for the Imperial Knights. Combined Knight Armies are looking better all the time.

Imperial Knights are starting to shape up with some mighty new tricks to form an even greater interlocking warmachine. Sure, these big and imposing Knights are devastating by themselves but when you bring in a few helping hands things start to really get rolling. Today, we’re looking at the Bondsman Abilities and how those will play into the greater warmachine as a whole.

“Imperial Knights are the very epitome of virtuous gallantry, and their squires want nothing more than to walk in their mighty footsteps. Why earn the Favour of the Dark Gods when you can earn the favour of your liege-lord? Thus, younger Nobles and lowborn pilots alike relish in undertaking the tasks appointed to them through Bondsman abilities.”

Basically this system allows for your Questoris-Class Knights to better direct the Armiger-class on the tabletop with some “benefits” for them.

On the plus side the Armigers are eager to please. So they take less damage as long as your army is Honoured or Virtuous. So that’s one nice thing for them. Some Knights can even help their Armiger squires hit better, too:

There’s even a “level-up” version that is known as the Exalted Court. These high-status lords get to use those Bondsman Abilities an extra time per turn!

“Members of the Exalted Court also gain specific abilities according to their station within your household.”

These titles have some extra benefit like in the case of the High Monarch:

The restriction is that the Imperial Knight must be your Warlord. However, everytime you gain an Honour Point, you can gain an additional one on a 5+ roll. And, perhaps more importantly, when they use their Bondsman Ability it applies to all friendly Armiger-class models within 6″ which can be quite the boost!

The High Monarch isn’t the only position either. There are a total of 10 different positions in the Exalted Court. So you’ll have a lot of options to choose from. Here’s another example: The Gatekeeper.

As long as this model is in your deployment zone it can’t be wounded on a 1-3 roll to wound. Furthermore, Armigers get +1 toughness while under the effects of the Gatekeeper’s Bondsman Ability! That’s one way to make sure your line holds.

Get ready for the Knight-bondsmen to take the fight to the enemies when the new Knight Codex drops!
