Warhammer 40K: Knightly Teachings Help Inspire your Imperial Knights To Greatness

Games Workshop is showing off some of the new Knightly Teachings to help even the littlest Knights make a big impact.

I don’t know why I’m pretending that Armigers are the “little guys” in this analogy. They are the size of Dreadnoughts and a pair of them is a terror on the tabletop for a lot of armies already. So the fact that these new Knightly Teachings can provide even more buffs for them should make them even scarier. What do they do and how do they work? Let’s find out.

“The Knight Preceptor strives to set an example for younger comrades – as such, it has the MENTOR keyword, and can pick three Knightly Teachings from a list of six. Each Preceptor can recount up to two of its teachings in your Command phase, rolling a D6 for each – on a roll of 3+, that teaching was inspiring enough to light a fire in the souls of their ARMIGER-CLASS squires.”

These sound a lot like a “pick your buffs” sort of situation. They aren’t an auto pass but a 3+ isn’t too shabby. That probably means they are going to be strong enough that you’ll want to remember to use them!

Imperial Knightly Teachings

So what are some examples of these Knightly Teachings? Well how about The Folly of Mercy.

Sounds like someone has been hanging out with Lord Saladin. And kudos if you understood that reference. Anyhow, this is a great ability to give your typically low model count army some extra action economy. By letting your Armiger-class models perform an action and still move and shoot is pretty huge!

Hey, do you remember those Knight Oaths and the Chivalric Code from earlier this week? Remember how you were limited to 2? Well…what if you weren’t?

This one seems like a great way to get exactly what you need when you need it. And while you don’t get the Oath’s Pledge you also don’t suffer from the Troth. So it’s got benefits for sure.

This aura ability is handy as well. Each unmodified 6 to hit scores one additional hit. That counts for both ranged and melee so your shooty or your stabby Armiger-class models can benefit equally. I like the idea of those chain-cleavers scoring more hits…but I also like the idea of getting a random extra hit with a thermal spears. Alternatively those Helverins would really pump out the shots with this active…

“So anyway… I started blastin’ “

Yeah, forget treating these Armigers as the little guys. With these buffs they are going to be swinging way above their weight-class (which wasn’t exactly the feather weight size to begin with).

Imperial (and Chaos) Knights are coming soon!
