Aeronautica Imperialis: Adeptus Custodes Get A New Flyer
The Adeptus Custodes are joining the dog fight in the sky. The Ares Gunship is launching into Aeronautica Imperialis!
When the Legio Custodes marched to war during the Unification Wars they brought the pain. But they did that with some extra air support from the Ares Gunship. This fighter craft packs quite the punch and even though it’s technology and design might be from a different era it still quite deadly in the skies. You’ll get to check it out for yourself when it lands in Aeronautica Imperialis!
“[T]he Ares Gunship has become the premier aerial runabout of the Adeptus Custodes – and it has the in-game performance to match. Five Structure points make it the toughest Fighter in the game, and it can hover and drop Infernus bombs to boot. The Gunship’s array of weapons – its signature nose-mounted Arachnus magna-blaze cannon, and a pair of heavy blaze cannons – mean it’s absolutely devastating at Medium range. “
With a distinct silhouette and serious firepower this Ares is not to be underestimated. Also, if you do manage to shoot one down the Adeptus Custodes pilot is inside is just going to survive the crash and then leap up in the sky and rip your fighters down with his bear hands. Okay, I might have made that last bit up, but you probably thought I was serious for a second because it’s the Custodes we’re talking about, right!?
But for real, these ships clock in at 43 points per craft and make very large holes in their targets with their firepower:
GW is also teasing a bit about who this ship flys for. Obviously, you can have a whole squadron of them for a Adeptus Custodes wing. They also fly with the Adeptus Astartes occasionally (probably just to keep them in line and check for signs of heresy). And then there is the “Divisio Aeronautica” which (if we had to guess) is an Imperial Aeronautica combo faction. Which isn’t currently a “thing” in the game. So…watch this space.
