Age of Sigmar: Lady of Vines Rules Preview

The Sylvaneth are getting a new Leader in the form of the Everqueen’s literal right hand. Meet the Lady of Vines.

The Lady of Vines is taking the lead for the Sylvaneth in the upcoming Echoes of Doom Battle Box. Let’s take a quick look at a few of her rules!

This towering, tree-tentacled warrior is the Lady of Vines. She’s Alarielle’s seneschal and right-hand woman – literally. The Lady was born from the severed hand of the goddess back in the early days of the Realmgate Wars, when the Everqueen was flush with the summery powers of war. Don’t worry, hands grow back.

Lady of Vines Rules

She’s named the Lady of Vines and that’s not just a title. It’s actually part of how she goes to war. That’s represented with her Writhing Vines rule.

At the start of the combat phase you’ve got a choice to make: Do you go offensive or defensive? If you’re looking to keep her from getting hit you can create a protective barrier with the vines which causes her foes to have a -1 to hit modifier when attacking her. Alternatively, you can ensnare your foes which grants the Lady a +1 to hit her targets. This one seems like a choice to make based on the situation and if you want to spend command points for All-Out Attack or not…

The Lady of Vines didn’t just get regrown from Alarielle’s hand. She also gained a bit of her power, too.

Roused to Wrath is an ability that grants her the option to summon in a unit if Dryads once per game. They’ve got to come out of an “overgrown terrain feature” or an Awakened Wyldwood. They also have to be outside of 9″ from an enemy. But hey, it’s 10 Dryads which can be a decent speed bump or screen — or a late game objective grabber!

Another power she has is a unique spell. The Aspect of the Everqueen gives friendly Sylvaneth units wholly within 12″ of her a 5+ ward save. That’s nothing to sneeze at! It should keep your units in the fight just a bit longer and help them take even more punishment.

The Echoes of Doom Battle Box is going to be the first place to get your hands on this new model. Shortly after that, the new Sylvaneth and Skaven Battletomes will also be out for pre-order!
