New Ms. Marvel clips show off Kamala’s powers and dig more into the struggles she’s dealing with.

The debut of Ms. Marvel is less than a month away. The series looks like a great mix of coming-of-age tale and superhero story. It has a unique perspective we haven’t seen in the MCU.

Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teenager with shapeshifting ability thanks to her Inhuman genes. Kamala took up the mantle from Carol Danvers when she became Captain Marvel in 2013. It flew off the shelves and has become a fan favorite. The first volume of the comic won a Hugo award for Best Graphic Story in 2015.

New Ms. Marvel Clips

There’s a better look at her powers and where they come from in these Ms. Marvel clips. It looks like a combination of stretch and cosmic powers. I’m betting the change was made for better TV visuals and to bring her closer to Captain Marvel’s power set. And instead of being Inhuman, her powers come from a pair of bracelets. The history of those is still a mystery, but it seems to be a family thing.

Ms. Marvel Details

The new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. She’s an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe. Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination – particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home. That is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?

Kamala is Marvel’s first Muslim character to star in her own title. Adding to the good the comic has done, this series – and the team selected to bring it to the screen – is a big step forward in the inclusion, visibility, and positive representation of Muslim and South Asian people in entertainment.

The cast is led by newcomer Iman Villani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Matt Lintz, Anjali Bhimani, Zenobia Shroff, Rish Shah, and Mohan Kapur join her on the screen. Episodes are directed by a talented team, which includes Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Bisha K. Ali is the head writer and is showrunner.
