Heresy! Heresy for one and all. The Age of Darkness is at hand as the Horus Heresy goes up for pre-order this coming weekend.

You’ve seen the models. You know the story. One bad dad, 18 (well 20, but we don’t talk about those two) sons with severe attachment and daddy issues. And a whole lotta Chaos. That’s right the Horus Heresy is at hand folks.

And the Age of Darkness boxed set is looking pretty spicy.

The Age of Darkness – Horus Heresy Up For Pre-order

You get a mammoth 54 plastic miniatures – that’s two Legion Praetors, 10 Cataphractii Terminators, 40 highly customisable Tactical Space Marines in Mk VI power armour, one Contemptor Dreadnought, and one Spartan Assault Tank. This is the basis of two substantial forces, or one incredibly mighty army – and all but the Terminators are completely new models.

There’s some incredibly cool miniatures right here. The Spartan Assault Tank and Contemptor Dreadnought look like particularly fun set pieces.

And whether you’re looking to build two armies, or start one big one, this boxed set has everything you need.

Including a 336 page hardback book that has extensive background info and rules.

But SPEAKING of books. Boy howdy if you wanted books there’s a ton of stuff here for you. Starting with the Liber Astartes:

This book is all about the good boys. The ones who stayed loyal during the Heresy. It has everything you need to field a Loyalist Legiones Astartes army, with unique rules for the nine legions.

The Liber Hereticus is for edgy cool boys who wear spikes and comb their hair to one side. It has everything you need to run one of the nine traitor legions, as well as all their special stuff.

Speaking of special kit, there are Weapons Upgrades a-plenty coming up for pre-order soon. Special weapons, heavy weapons, if there are bits that you can give your Legiones Astartes, you’ll find them in these kits. There’s the Special Weapons Upgrade Set:

This comes with flamers, plasma guns, meltaguns, rotor cannons, volkite chargers, and volkite calivers.

The Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set, on the other hand, has missile launchers and heavy bolters. And comes with ten of each.

Models So Good It HAS To Be Heresy

But it isn’t just the new boxed set and accompanying kits. A ton of new models come up for pre-order along with the set. Models like the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank up there, which is inexplicably painted blue and not white and red.

Or the Deimos Pattern Rhino, which was the most popular variant during the 31st millennium.

But what will you put in your old Rhino? Troops in old armor! Check out some of the best patterns: Mk III Iron Armor up there, looking like old fashioned knights.

And the Mk IV squad is here as well in there Maximus armor. Looking pretty sharp.

But squads like this need a leader. And Azek Ahriman is perhaps that leader. Ahriman’s plastic miniature will be available on its own, shedding a single tear for the old model who won’t be fielded anymore, because why would you.

You can also get a map of the entire Imperium at the cusp of the Horus Heresy.

Primarchs On Parade

What’s a Legion without its gene-sire? All 18 Primarchs are being repackaged for the new edition – perfect if you want to bring some more serious star power to your battles for the fate of a galaxy. These guys are all already available from Forge World, but you will be able to pre-order them from the Games Workshop webstore from next Saturday, to arrive at the same time as your Age of Darkness box.

Each Primarch has been exquisitely rendered in incredibly detailed resin, ready to lead their Legions to victory/defeat (delete as appropriate).

All this, next week
