We’ve got a better look at some of the weapons from the Leagues of Votann. These guns are high tech enough to make the Ad Mech jealous.

The Leagues of Votann are going to be a new army coming to 40k. Or the return of an old army, but different. Whatever. The point is they are looking really interesting and we’re getting a closer look at some of their weapons with hints at what they can do. Let’s dive in to the weapons of the Votann!

via Warhammer Community

As with more or less everything else in the Leagues, the collected technological knowledge of the Kin is contained within the Votann. These ancient minds are vast repositories of weapon schematics that would have just about every member of the Adeptus Mechanicus weighing up the merits of becoming a heretek. The Kin, you see, are sitting on a closely guarded network of functioning STCs – a fact reflected across their entire armoury.

Weapons of the Votann

As you can see above many of the weapons used by the Leagues of Votann are …similar to the Imperium. They clearly have some auto and bolt weapons. They also have access to Volkanite and Ion weaponry, too. This opens up some more options for their armory. They also aren’t “stuck in technological stasis like some factions we could mention.” The Kin are allowed to customize and modify their weaponry. They tinker. They forge. The Leagues of Votann experiment.

“From the Autoch-pattern bolter to the Etacarn plasma gun, many Kin weapons bear superficial similarities to Imperial weapons, but they’re superior in every respect. There’s a clear shared ancestry between the bolt revolver and bolt shotgun and the bolt weapons of the Adeptus Astartes, but Kin weapons simply work better and hit harder. “

This statement from GW has us VERY curious about these weapons and their performance on the tabletop now. How are the Leagues Weapons going to be better than the Imperium? Are they going to make the newer Primaris Bolt Rifles look bad by comparison? Those already raised the bar — should we be worried about the Votann Bolt weapons now?

It’s not just Small arms fire either. The Leagues of Votann also have access to bigger weapons. And, as mentioned above, Plasma weapons too. They are going to be packing some serious heavy firepower with the return of the Graviton weapons and even a Conversion Beamer! Their armory is sounding like an upgraded version of the Adeptus Mechancius. Cawl is going to be sooooo jealous.

Fun Votann Lore Tidbits

The article from the WarCom team also has a few other call outs. We encourage to read the full article but here’s a few we appreciated:

  • Their engineers are called “Brôkhyrs” (which is just a fancy way of spelling/saying Brokers)
  • The “Brôkhyrs” have personal devices called “A.N-vyl terminals”
  • Apparently, they taught the T’au how to use Ion Technology
  • Kin have smart tech in their gear called “haptic utility nerve transmission recalibrator modules” or “HunTR for short”
  • Their melee weaponry is similarly high-tech
  • They use plasma fields for blades (freakin’ lightsabers)
  • The Kin also use Hammers and mauls with mounted mass drivers

Yeah the Leagues of Votann are going to pack a punch alright. We can’t wait to learn more about them!

What do you think of all these high tech teases from the Leagues?
