Warhammer 40K: Chaos Space Marines New Crusade Rules

Games Workshop is previewing a batch of the new Crusade Rules for your Chaos Space Marines! Will you be a Warlord or Warp Spawn?

Warhammer 40,000 9th edition has really upped the game in terms of campaign play and the Crusade Rules are a big part of that. Every codex has gotten a massive update for building Crusade Armies and Chaos Space Marines is next on that list. Today were getting a look at a few of the updates for Chaos Space Marines and how their Path to Glory could end up turning them in to the next Warlord or Warp Spawn.

“To appease the Chaos Gods and avoid the fate of being turned into a Chaos Spawn, you’re going to have to be victorious in battle. Winning a battle earns you Chaos points, which you can spend on Personal Glory, Dark God Glory, or Warfleet Glory.”

As you gain these points you can spend them in the respective categories. Here we have a look at the Dark God Glory options:

Unlocking these boons is how your Characters can get some nice boosts on the tabletop. In this example we see that a Scorpion Tail is a flat +1 to the Attacks Characteristic.

These boons do come with a warning however:

“There are also Sacred Boons for the four Chaos Gods, but if you ever roll a duplicate Boon on any of the tables, it’s Spawndom for you! If you lose enough Chaos Points, you can also become Forsaken, and you get punished by the Chaos Gods. When this happens in the Dark God Glory category, guess what? Yep, that’s right Spawndom!”

So what’s it like to be Forsaken by the Chaos Gods? It’s also not great…

Spawndom is always a possibility. It might be time to stalk up on those Chaos Spawn Models. Anyhow, there are going to be lots of rules to play around with. The 6 Traitor Legions covered in Codex: Chaos Space Marines, Creations of Bile, and the Red Corsairs all have their own Crusade Rules on top of this. That means new Agendas, Requisitions, Crusade Relics, and Battle Traits. This system will really allow you to customize your army the more you play it!
