Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 brought both Bards and Gnomes to the table, but that’s not all it brought—new deities, including Lathander the Morninglord await.

Patch 8 was a huge deal for Baldur’s Gate 3. It introduced Bards and Gnomes and musical instruments. Now everyone can rock out on lutes and drums and more.

And you don’t have to be a bard to join in the fun. Anyone (who is level 4 and picks up the appropriate feat) can join a jam session in Baldur’s Gate 3 now.

But as amazing as that is, there’s a few subtle additions with Patch 8 that make Baldur’s Gate 3 even more tabletop accurate. Notably a number of new deities are present in the character creation screen.

New Deities Introduced in Patch 8

Hop into Baldur’s Gate 3 and create yourself a Cleric. You’ll find a number of new options in an old familiar space. Some of Faerun’s most iconic deities make an appearance in this patch.

As you can see above, Clerics can now choose Lathander as a patron deity. Lathander the Morninglord is one of the iconic good deities in the setting. And now Light Clerics can take up shield and spell in his name.

Never mind the fact that he used to also be Amaunator and might still be. Look the gods are weird in Faerun, it’s best not to ask. Especially when there are so many to pick from.

Clerics can now opt to follow Lady Luck herself, Tymora, the goddess of good fortune. She’s actually the second incarnation of the goddess of luck. The one before was split into two deities. Like we said, don’t ask, a lot happens to gods in Faerun.

If Tymora isn’t your style, you might try the nature goddess Mielikki. The Supreme Ranger is a slightly more obscure deity, who also happens to be canonically a part of the Finnish pantheon (because she’s also a Finnish god, and Ed Greenwood canonically exists in the Forgotten Realms, along with Earth).

Or if you’re a little edgier, you could play as a Cleric of Talos. You won’t have to worry about the Thalmor, because Talos in the Forgotten Realms is a god of storms and destruction.

These and more await you in Patch 8.

If Ed Greenwood and the planet Earth are canon in D&D… technically so are you!
