WizKids has unleashed a “table-sized replica”: a massive tower, Daern’s Instant Fortress, which doubles as shelter and dice tower.

Dungeons & Dragons makes you think about survival. You have to scrabble in the wilderness, looking for dungeons. Maybe you fight monsters. Maybe the dungeon is the city itself. Either way, sometimes you need to get away from it all. And with WizKids’ new massive “miniature” you can. The Daern’s Instant Fortress Table-Sized Replica is a massive tower that your adventurer can escape to.

Too big to be a “miniature” WizKids calls it a table-sized replica. And it’s not hard to see why. This tower is huge. Big enough to both act as shelter or be a dice tower if you want help rolling those critical rolls.

And just like the magic item that inspires it, Daern’s Instant Fortress, the ‘table-sized replica’ comes in two formats. A massive fortress, and a tiny compact cube.

D&D: Daern’s Instant Fortress Table-Sized Replica – $157.49

A table-sized replica of Daern’s Instant Fortress that doubles as a dice tower!

Based on the famous and formidable wondrous magic item, this tower is sized to rest easily on a shelf or at the game table, where it may be employed as more than a sturdy piece of unassailable décor—it may also serve as a dice tower. Also included is the item’s magically compact (1-in. cube) form—ideally sized to fit in an adventurer’s belt pouch, any player’s dice bag, or on a display shelf alongside its “full-sized” counterpart.

Daern’s Instant Fortress is one of those magic items that’s been around forever in D&D. Even in the earliest days it was a quick fortress. And in 5th Edition is as much as it ever was: a square tower, 20 feet on a side and 30 feet high, with arrow slits on all sides.

It also has the trademark battlement atop it. Of course, the table-sized replica may not be immune to the knock spell. Either way, you’ll want to be careful when deploying it. Daern’s Instant Fortress does 10d10 bludgeoning damage to each creature in its area when you expand it from a tiny cube into an imposing fortress with a single action.

This instant fortress is due out in Q3, so keep an eye out and get ready to bunker down
