She’s the “mutant mistress of the Darkforce dimension” Laynia Sergeievna Petrovna aka “Darkstar” is coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol with a brand new miniature and some potent powers to match. Today, we’re taking a closer look at this powerful mutant and how she’ll work on your tabletop.
“Darkstar can psychically access the Darkforce dimension’s extradimensional energies. Her consciousness is split between her physical body and its Darkforce representation, linking her to both dimensions. She can manipulate the Darkforce to behave like matter or energy, projecting energy as solid objects with steel-like density. Darkstar may teleport via the Darkforce dimension by opening a portal through which she and her allies can pass. “
As a member of the Winter Guard, Darkstar fills many roles. She’s got some solid, hard hitting attacks and she also brings some support to the team as well. For starters, her Darkforce Strikes can be re-rolled due to her mastery over the Darkforce. This makes this Strength 5 attack more reliable that you might initially think!
If you really need to put the hurt on a target, the Rending Force is your other option. For only 3 Power to use, this is a strength 7 attack. It’s also got the option to be used as either Physical or Energy attack types. You get to choose making it devastating on the right type of target. Not only does it hit hard, it also causes bleed.
Darkstar also has some great support abilities like her Dimensional Portal which allows her to move herself or a friend up to range 3 away. Great for moving some slower folks around or pulling the more headstrong members out of a bad situation. Darkforce Barrier is also a great defensive ability. Not only does it add 2 defense to non-mystic attacks, the target cannot be forced to advance, pushed, or placed by any other effects.
For better or worse, her stats don’t really change when she goes to wounded status. She can still Fly and has all her stats, attacks, and utility abilities. Darkstar is fairly consistent throughout the entire engagement.
