The grim darkness of the distant future is a little more distant as delays hit Warhammer 40K: Darktide, which will release later this year.

This past weekend Fatshark announced that Warhammer 40K: Darktide was going to be delayed. With its initial release date of September 13th around the corner, Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund made the announcement that the game was being pushed back several weeks.

Today we decided to delay the launch of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to November 30th for PC. Xbox Series X|S will launch shortly after PC, with a specific launch date to come.

Delaying a game is perhaps one of the most difficult decisions a developer faces and one we are not excited about making. Still, we hope this speaks to our commitment to taking the time necessary and doing whatever it takes to get you the best possible game.

While we have been humbled by the great feedback on the game so far, we also need more time to improve stability, performance, and to mature key systems. Each is critical to making sure we have the best possible experience for you, the players.

Warhammer 40K Darktide Delayed But Betas Live On

However, not all is doom and gloom, even in the grim darkness of 40K. In the accompanying announcement, Fatshark also revealed that they would soon launch technical tests and betas in advance of the launch.

So if you were hoping to play the game soon, you’ll still have a chance. And in fact, you’ll help the launch roll out even smoother.

This is another in a series of games whose release dates have been pushed back, though with a release of November 30th, it’s a month and a half past the initial date. Which, considering that games like Baldur’s Gate 3 have seen their releases slide further and further back, unto next year even, isn’t too bad.
