In Spelljammer, playing a Plasmoid means you can at last be the slime that you know you are in your heart. Here’s what they do!

Spelljammer lets you do many things, but perhaps the greatest is playing a Plasmoid, because now you can play a living ooze. It’s a fantasy we all have. You don’t have to hide it anymore. You can just admit it to yourself at long last.

We all want to be slime. From Primordial Slime we came, to Primordial Slime we will return. And Spelljammer’s plasmoid option lets you do all kinds of cool things.

Spelljammer Plasmoid Previews

In Spelljammer a plasmoid is a unique race option. When you’re playing one, you’re not just playing a slime, but one that can reform itself at will.

A plasmoid is unique in that it doesn’t have a typical shape. They’re naturally amorphous, but they can, at their discretion adopt a shape. They can create limbs out of their own slime, as their bodies are composed of cells, fibers, and plasma shot through with nerve clusters that let them sense heat, texture, sound, light, vibration, and pain.

When plasmoid sleeps, they become puddles. Which is the dream.

But let’s take a look at some of the plasmoid game abilities, revealed in the video above. For one, they can naturally fit through a space as narrow as one inch wide, provided they are fully nude, which is a terrifying thing to think about.

They also have an advantage on ability checks made to initiate or escape a grapple.

Further, as weird slime people, they can also hold their breath for an hour, resist poison and acid damage, and can reshape their bodies to take on a humanoid shape or revert to a limbless blob. The ability we all wish we could take.

They can also extrude a pseudopod to interact with things up to 10 feet away, and it can open a door or pour out the contents of a container. You specifically can’t attack with it. But we can’t wait to see plasmoids in action once Spelljammer releases next week!

Happy Adventuring!
