Giancarlo Esposito Wants to be the MCU’s Professor X
The Breaking Bad and Mandalorian actor wants to take on the leader of the X-Men. Do you think Giancarlo Esposito is up for it?
With their purchase of Fox in 2019, the mutants were brought into the fold. Marvel hasn’t done anything major with them beyond an animated series, but they’ve been bringing them into the MCU slowly. The studio has already started adding mutants into the MCU with Ms. Marvel and The Multiverse of Madness. It’s only a question of time before we see more favorite characters from X-Men show up and get their own movies.
During a talk at TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con, Esposito spoke about his desire to play the iconic psychic character in the upcoming X-Men projects Marvel has planned. He stated that he’s “been in a room and talked” with Marvel Studios already, so something is brewing. The enthusiasm for putting his wish “out in the universe” was caught on video by Countdown City Geeks.

I’m a fan of this choice. Though we know him mostly as an actor that can play a stone-cold villain, Giancarlo Esposito has range. He’d be an excellent Xavier that’s intense and empathetic – with the ability to be so focused on a path that he doesn’t give a damn about anything around him. Xavier is complicated. Esposito is great at complicated.
The next question: who is playing Magneto and the X-Men? Which characters do you want to see on screen first? I’d like to see Nicholas Hoult return as Beast and more Nightcrawler, please. Kodi Smit-McPhee was good and he wants to come back.
