Amazon Prime is offering free games with a Prime subscription, including StarCraft: Remastered and some other games which flew under the radar.

Each month, Amazon Prime partners with Twitch to offer up a selection of free games to anyone with an Amazon Prime subscription. This is also how you get your free Twitch Prime sub every month. A lot of these games get overlooked, but this month is a pretty great selection.

As a bonus for the people out there with Amazon Luna, you can also play Control: Ultimate Edition this month. It’s not a perfect game, but it is absolutely worth playing any way you can.

1. StarCraft: Remastered

Starting off strong, StarCraft is the godfather of Real Time Strategy games. While it wasn’t the first RTS, it was the first one to really break through into the mainstream. Sure, Warcraft, Command & Conquer, and others were also on that stage, but StarCraft has always been in the front.

The Remaster includes the expansion, Brood War, with enhanced graphics, sound, and optimizations for modern systems.

2. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders

This pick won’t be for everyone, but if you’re a little older and loved Maniac Mansion or King’s Quest, this is a title you may have missed. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders is a classic LucasArts point-and-click adventure game.

It’s originally from 1988 and it shows, but that’s not a bad thing. The mechanics have reached beyond having to type out your actions, but not quite as far as universal click-to-interact. It’s right in the sweet spot for fans of this very specific niche of point-and-click adventure games.

3. ScourgeBringer

ScourgeBringer is a fast-paced, side-scrolling roguelike, somewhat in the style of games like Rogue’s Legacy but with Celeste-like movement. You’ll be exploring rooms, entering into quick and snappy combat, buying upgrades, and using movement abilities to stay alive.

It’s a game that absolutely deserved more attention. The controls are tight and responsive and the game has a great balance between challenging and difficult. If you’re new to this genre, it can have a bit of a learning curve, but once it clicks, it’s so satisfying to play.

4. Beasts of Maravilla Island

Beasts of Maravilla Island is a beautiful exploration/puzzle/action game. It’s a lot of things in one. You play as an amateur wildlife photographer who explores the magical island attempting to coax out each animal’s unique behaviors to add them to your journal.

Beasts of Maravilla Island is fully explorable and has over 50 animals and plants to discover. It’s a game about stepping into a new world and discovering secrets lie under every rock and around every tree.

5. Recompile

Recompile is a third-person Metroidvania with a big focus on action, exploration, and atmosphere. Non-linear progression and gameplay make Recompile a digital landscape worth getting lost in.

However, that is one of the frequent complaints about the game. The map is big, for better or worse. So be ready to get turned around and lost from time to time. But, if you’re the sort of gamer who enjoys that feeling of finding your way out of the darkness, Recompile might be for you.
