‘House of the Dragon’ Final Trailer – Fire Will Reign

Aug 19 2022

HBO has released the House of the Dragon final trailer – battles, jousts, intrigue, dragons, and fire.

It can’t be denied that Game of Thrones was exceptional television. Arguably it started to fall apart when the backbone George R.R. Martin created ran out – and apparently when they shut the author out. House of the Dragon‘s source material is complete, so not as many concerns there. The big question: can it get fans back in front of their screens every week? There’s been a lot of fallout after the abysmal GoT finale.

The reviews for the new show have been good so far, and there are other reasons to be hyped. Like dragons. Lots of them.

House of the Dragon Final Trailer

The prequel dives into the history of House Targaryen and promises to be more brutal and filled with treachery than GoT. And if the core series wasn’t adult enough for you, Matt Smith complained that he had too many sex scenes. So… there’s that to look forward to for Matt Smith fans.

Over battle scenes and dragons spewing fire, King Viserys tells his daughter and heir Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen: “the road ahead is uncertain, but the end is clear.” War is coming, it is unavoidable due to a choice he has made. We know how the story ends thanks to Game of Thrones – this is how it got there.

The main story arc of House of the Dragon covers the Valyrians and the Dance of the Dragons, plus the story of House Targaryen that’s filled with intrigue, incest, and insanity. It starts when House Targaryen goes into an internal battle over who will take the Iron Throne after King Viserys dies – his daughter Rhaenyra or his son Aegon II. This blows up into an all-out war of the Houses of Westeros that will reposition power for generations.

Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Steve Toussaint star. As well as Paddy Considine, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans. Check out who they’re playing here.

House of the Dragon arrives on HBOMax on August 21 (this Sunday).
