Warhammer 40K: Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol Pricing Breakdown

We’ve got a new Combat Patrol for Chaos Daemons. At least that’s what Games Workshop is calling it even though it’s very Khornate.

So typically when Games Workshop releases a Combat Patrol for an army it’s got a pretty good mix of stuff for players to try out. And it’s not that this new “Chaos Daemons” Combat Patrol doesn’t do that. It’s just that, well, this seems a whole lot more like a “Khorne” Daemon Combat Patrol box to replace their old Start Collecting! box. At least we can still do a breakdown of the price regardless of what GW is calling it.

Combat Patrol: Khorne Chaos Daemons

Blood For The Blood God!

Bloodmaster $32

3x Bloodcrushers mounted on Juggernauts $55 ($110/2)

10x Flesh Hounds $110 ($55 x 2)

20x Bloodletters $76 ($38 x 2)

Total Individual MSRP: $218

Total Savings: $68

“But wait how do you know the savings on this box? We don’t have an announced price yet!” Well, we kind of do. Furthermore, it’s a Combat Patrol and those boxes have a specific price point.

We’re also getting a big of a teaser on the points level for this box at 33 Power Level. We’re going to have more comprehensive breakdown of the points later with some suggested options for next steps.

But for now, I’d like to comment on the box contents. It’s a little odd that GW opted to go with two sets of Flesh Hounds vs the 3 other Bloodcrushers. Pricewise they work out the same but based on their current packaging that would be a lot closer to retail options.

Flesh Hounds come in a box of 5 while the Bloodcrushers coming in a box of 6. This Combat Patrol inverts that which…might not be a bad thing. Maybe it worked out better for the Power Level/Points target. That said, how would we rate this Combat Patrol with our “Peat, Repeat, or No-Peat” scale? If I were starting a brand new Chaos Daemon I might just go with a “Peat” for this one and just buy one.

However, if I wanted to start a KHORNE Daemon army for either 40k or Age of Sigmar, I’d make this a “Repeat” for sure and snag two. That’s a good deal for those models and 40 Bloodletters and 20 Khorne Dawgs Flesh Hounds is a really good core. Slap a Bloodthirster (or two) in there and you’ve got a really mean start for that army.

Bloodthirster: Just add water BLOOD!

Personally, I was kind of hoping for a bit more from the Chaos Daemon Combat Patrol. Or at least call this box what it is: A Khorne Daemon Combat Patrol. Hopefully, we see new Combat Patrols for all 4 Chaos Daemons. We’ll have to wait and see how that shakes out.

In the meantime, if you’re planning on starting a Daemon army snag that codex this weekend and figure out which version of that army you want to use. There’s basically 4 armies in one with that book — 5 if you go undivided! Just throwing that out there…

As a Chaos Daemon army box…eh? But as a KHORNE Daemon box — Heck ya!
