One by one, WizKids is tackling the demon lords of D&D. Next April, we’ll see a hauntingly alien Zuggtmoy, Demon Queen of Fungi mini.

WizKids is back to put the Icon in Icons of the Realms. And by that, we mean they’re slowly but surely making their way through the biggest and baddest names in the various monster manuals. Whether that’s gorgeous miniatures of the goddess of evil dragons or a big stompy Tarrasque, you can find iconic minis in the line.

Earlier this week, WizKids unveiled a new Icon of the Realms: Zuggtmoy, Demon Queen of Fungi.

A Miniature for Zuggtmoy, Demon Queen of Fungi

Zuggtmoy has long been a powerful antagonist in D&D. From the earliest days, she has always been the ruler of demons and fungi and infections. Standing just under 4.5 inches tall on a 75mm base, Zuggtmoy will be an imposing mini. This miniature represents her latest incarnation, as seen in Out of the Abyss and Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

In 5th Edition, she is an alien creature whose only desire is to infect the living with spores. She specifically spreads a rot that transforms living creatures into mindless servants and decomposing hosts for her spawn of mushrooms, molds, and other fungi.

She is truly alien. And often molds her fungoig form into a vaguely human shape, pictured above. But she takes a twisted kind of joy out of mocking the living.

Her cultists might follow her unwittingly, either unknowingly spreading more of her mind-controlling spores or working to further her alien goals without knowledge. More intentional servants have become fused with her demonic fungi. Some grow powerful, others are little more than fungal extensions of the demon queen’s will.

Whatever the case, Zuggtmoy and her brood consume whatever they can get hold of. As the rot takes root it devours all, body and soul.

Look for Zuggtmoy, Demon Queen of Fungi in April 2023.
