That moment we’ve been waiting for has finally come – Wolverine is in Deadpool 3. Confirmed by Ryan Reynolds.

He dropped the news on Twitter, which was reposted on Jackman’s Instagram.

“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next ‘Deadpool’ film for a good long while now. I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every ‘Deadpool’ needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside. And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

The last time X-Men fans saw Jackman as Wolverine was in 2016’s R-rated Logan directed by James Mangold. Looks like we’ll be seeing him again on September 6th, 2024.

Deadpool 3 has been mothballed since 2018 thanks to Disney’s purchase of Fox. Free Guy‘s Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool. He came up through kids’ TV and the Night At The Museum movies, so this may be a bit tamer than Tim Miller and David Leitch’s takes on the character. Though with Reynolds in the suit and now the friendship between him and Jackman coming to the screen, I’m a bit less worried about that.

Will they be friends? Enemies? Frenemies? We’ll find out how it all comes together in 2024.
