Warhammer 40K: Darktide promises a grim, dark future full of action—and fun personalities. Take a listen to Voices of the 41st Millennium.

One of the best things about Fatshark’s Vermintide series, is how richly the characters come to life. Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay is fantastic, and absolutely what keeps you coming back. But what makes each return so delicious is the personalities at play.

And in a new update, we get to peek behind the voice booth to see the kinds of personalities that manifest in Warhammer 40K: Darktide. Come have a listen to some of the voices of the 41st Millennium.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide – Voices Of The 41st Millennium

In Darktide your character will have strong opinions about how things are going. And the other characters around you. Whether you play as a zealot, a psyker, even an ogryn, you’ll be able to grab a voice profile that lets you live out your dream. Recently, the Fatshark devs showed off what makes the defenders of Atoma stand out.

Here’s a look at (and listen of) some of the voices of the 41st Millennium.

The Professional is the archetypal Imperial Guardsman: diligent, dedicated and just waiting for the round that’s going to take off the back of their head. They’ve seen plenty of action and lost a lot of friends along the way, but their faith in the Emperor has never faltered. They might not be in regular service any longer, but they’ve still got a duty to fulfill, and they’re not going to let a trifling thing like overwhelming odd and scummy rations get in the way … though it’d be nice if some of their teammates would act like real soldiers once in a while.

The Professional is a far cry from the Loose Cannon, though:

As the name suggests, Loose Cannons are reckless, cavalier, and extremely mouthy. But it’s not all grim and darkness. You can see some of the fun that the voice actors imbue the characters with. Here’s a sample of the Judge:

At their heart, the Judge is defined by absolute unswerving adoration of the God-Emperor. It’s an interesting challenge to get into the headspace of someone who sees the Imperial Cult (appalling by modern standards of morality!) as not only something to be obeyed, but as an active force for good. They truly believe that the God-Emperor has a plan for everyone, that obedience to the faith is the sole means through which humanity can survive, and that the alternatives are infinitely worse… and they might even be right.
