‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ – Feed Your Imaginary Friends Before They Feed on You

2 Minute Read
Sep 1 2022

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey trailer shows what happens when beloved childhood characters land in the public domain.

In this new slasher flick, Christopher Robin was a great friend to Winnie-the-Pooh and the animals of the 100 Acre Wood. He played games, kept them company, and brought them food. But as he grew older, his visits were scant and his friends were hungry. When Christopher left for college, his visits to the wood stopped entirely. His former animal friends became completely feral.

Now, Christopher Robin returns to the wood to find that you should always feed your imaginary forest friends. Or they’ll look for other food sources. Like co-eds at an AirBnB.

This slasher with a new wrapping takes advantage of Winnie-the-Pooh going into the public domain earlier this year. I think it’s the first movie to come out lampooning the children’s classic. Bad movies are my jam, so I’m looking forward to murderous Pooh with an axe and Piglet the warthog, plus more off-brand uses of the characters. Unlike Kelly McClure over at Salon.

“In a perfect example of the wrong that could come from a creative work slipping into public domain, A.A. Milne’s beloved characters Winnie the Pooh and Piglet are going full horror in a Jagged Edge Productions slasher called ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’… And yet … why? Aren’t we already doing our best to keep chins up while treading water in the Swamp of Sadness? Do we really need a beast-mode Pooh and Piglet?”

Yes. We do.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Official Details

The movie is directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who has talked about a sequel already. After all, Tigger becomes public domain in 2024. The movie stars Maria Taylor, Amber Doig-Thorne, and Danielle Scot. They filmed it over ten days.

“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey sees Piglet and Pooh embark on a twisted rampage after being abandoned by their friend, Christopher Robin. Journey into 100 Acre Wood as you’ve never seen it before.”

This is more than likely a straight-to-VOD movie. No release date yet.
