Games Workshop is showing off a new plastic kit coming to Necromunda. The Promethium Tanks are on the way.

The road wars continue in Necromunda. Once again we traverse the Ash Wastes in our Cargo-8 Ridgehaulers and once again we are in search of something to haul. This time around it’s the lifeblood of the vehicles themselves: Promethium!

That’s right folks, Games Workshop has introduce new Promethium Tank kits for Necromunda and I’m super pumped about these kits. Take a look at them for yourself.

via Warhammer Community

“Puzzle no longer, as we unveil the 41st Millennium’s answer to the energy crisis – the Promethium Tank Refuelling Station! That’s right, you can finally replicate that rural petrol station experience – minus the off-brand snacks and broken toilet – in your games of Necromunda.”

The set itself contains four Promethium Tanks that are built using “interchangeable segments that allow you to choose the height of each tank.” I’m pretty sure that means you can build these tanks as tall as you want — provided you have enough segments. The kit also has two platforms and two overflow tanks with ladders. I’m guessing the two platforms are the one on top and then the one on top of the overflow tank.

And since you’re getting 4 tanks and 2 overflow tanks, I’m also guessing you’ll be able to build two sets of these tanks. They look pretty modular, too. I wonder if you could just connect all the tanks in a row or get real crazy with their configuration.

You’re also getting some more cool doodads with the kit. We’ve got two crates (probably full of tools/ammo/goodies) as well as two different hoses, two “tool piles”, four wrenches, and 4 BLOWTORCHES!?? Yeah, those aren’t fire extinguishers. Why would you want an open flame near these tanks full of explosive fuel? Because you live in the hellscape that is the Ash Wastes and pray for a swift death? Perhaps.

This kit is a fuel station so it seems like these tanks are meant to be used as terrain. But maybe you want to get a little more mobile with your tanks?

“These parts can be used in numerous combinations, and the kit as a whole is compatible with a variety of plastic terrain kits – including the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler, the Cargo-8 Trailer, and various other fuel pipes. You’ll even be able to buy a trailer-tank set specifically for carting promethium around the ash wastes.”

Alright, that’s just gonna be cool now. You can combine these tanks with the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler to form a Promethium Tank trailer. Come to think of it, there was an upgrade option for the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler for Promethium Tanks…I think they cost like 30 credits. And, as it turns out, there are some extra rules for bringing them with you.

“These can only be found in the construction booklet included in the box, and they include highlights such as Liquid Creds for selling your fiery bounty, Free Fuel for keeping those flamers lit, Fuel Slicks for slipping and sliding all over the place, and Kaboom! for… well, you can probably guess.”

New rules you can use, too! Sweet, sweet Promethium! I’m excited about these tanks now. I can’t wait to get my hands on them to load them up on the Cargo-8 Ridgehauler kit. Also, another trailer is super handy…
