It’s the time of year for watching your neck! If you need your vampire fix, check out these bloodcurdling vampire comics!

It’s Halloween season, which means it’s time for all the bloodsuckers and fiends to creep their way into our hearts and minds. Do you like romantic, debonair monsters of mystery or flesh-hungry nightmares with bloody, gnashing teeth? Either way, if you’re a vamp-fan, you’ve got to read these killer comic books.

As always, we know that digital comics are very convenient. But if you see something you absolutely need to own in the meatspace, be sure to head to your local comic book shop!

American Vampire by Scott Snyder &  Rafael Albuquerque

Cunning, ruthless, and rattlesnake mean, Skinner Sweet is a thoroughly corrupt gunslinger. When European vampires come to the American Old West, they turn Skinner into a true monster: the very first American vampire. Skinner becomes something entirely new–a stronger breed of vampire immune to sunlight, who hates every last one of his aristocratic European ancestors.

Follow this dark symbol of the New World’s bloody path as he moves through American history’s most distinctive eras–from the Wild West in the 1880s to the glamorous classic Hollywood of the 1920s to mobster-run Las Vegas in the 1930s, and beyond. But as Skinner’s war with his predecessors inspires a mysterious society to rise and fight them both, his most upsetting decision might involve the first person he chooses to join his vampiric ranks: a struggling young movie star named Pearl Jones.

30 Days of Night by Steve Niles & Ben Templesmith

The vampire tale that put horror comics back on the map! Collects the original trilogy of stories centered around Barrow, Alaska, and its deadly visitors.

First, in the original 30 Days of Night, dive deep into the nightmare world of Barrow, Alaska, where month-long winter darkness calls a siren song to a band of bloodthirsty vampires. The town’s only hope of survival lies in the hands of Stella and Eben, the local husband-and-wife sheriff team.

Then, in Dark Days, Stella and Eben have sacrificed so much, and the world desperately needs to know the truth about the vampire plague, but it’s going to take a whole lot more than a pound of flesh to satisfy a bunch of ravening bloodsuckers who don’t want their secrets revealed.

Last, we Return to Barrow, where the setting sun ignites a new winter of terror for the beleaguered townspeople. Brian Kitka is desperate to find out what happened to his brother last winter, and becoming the new sheriff may get him the answers he needs. But some things are best left in the dark, and Brian will need more than just help from a few old friends if anyone’s going to be alive come sunrise.

Preacher by Garth Ennis & Steve Dillon

Jesse Custer was just a small-town preacher in Texas… until his congregation was flattened by powers beyond his control and the Preacher became imbued with abilities beyond anyone’s understanding.

Now possessed by Genesis—the unholy coupling of an angel and demon—Jesse holds Word of God, an ability to command anyone or anything with a mere utterance. And he’ll use this power to hold the Lord accountable for the people He has forsaken.

From the ashes of a small-town church to the bright lights of New York City to the backwoods of Louisiana, Jesse Custer cuts a righteous path across the soul of America in his quest for the divine—an effort that will be met by every evil that Heaven and Earth can assemble. Joined by his gun-toting girlfriend, Tulip, and the hard-drinking Irish vampire, Cassidy, Jesse will stop at nothing to fulfill his quest to find God.

Vampironica by Frank Tieri, Michael Moreci, & Adurey Mok

Riverdale’s own bombshell bloodsucker is back!

Following the events of the Jughead the Hunger vs. Vampironica crossover, Veronica returns to her own universe, still a vampire. She’s not the same, and she knows it. And now she needs answers. But she may not be ready for what she’s about to discover!

Just so you’re aware, if you buy these comics, we’ll make a little money. We need it to buy garlic, because we like to cook with it, and are absolutely not afraid of vampires, thank you very much.
