It’s finally here and we got to take a crack at it early. The Hekaton Land Fortress is an impressive Leagues of Votann Kit!

When we first got the codex for the Leagues of Votann I flipped through to find any new vehicles that hadn’t been revealed. That’s when I first saw the Hekaton Land Fortress and it was the unit I was most looking forward to seeing in person. Well, I got to unbox and build one and it’s just as impressive as I thought it was going to be.

Unboxing The Hekaton Land Fortress

The kit itself is made up of 3 different sprues and one more clear plastic sprue for the canopy for a total of 4 sprues. It’s a big, chonky kit. It’s on par with the size of a Land Raider or Repulsor for sure. I doesn’t come with a base either so the Hekaton Land Fortress  really is free wheeling.

There are a LOT of bits on this bad boy. You’ll have a ton of different weapon options to choose from so you really can kit it out however you want it (within it’s Datasheet limits of course). I really liked how the ball turrets can move — as long as you’re super careful with your glue. I managed to jam 2 of them and the other 2 still move. Lesson learned.

I also really liked how well everything went together. Many of the cuts and seams are covered up so you have a really neat and clean vehicle when you’re done. I also didn’t fully glue down all the clear canopy sections because I didn’t start to paint this monster of a truck yet.

All of my standard tips on building kits apply on this one with the added tip of really take your time clipping and (most importantly) cleaning off all the clipping nubs. Everything fits together extremely well IF you do a good job cleaning the clipped bits up.

The trickiest part of the build were the ball turrets on the side of the Hekaton Land Fortress. Those were the ones I managed to jam-up with glue. I’m not quite sure how to prevent that in the future other than maybe swapping to super glue and only applying to the outside of the “ring” and letting that set.

At least with super glue (instead of plastic glue) you can “break” any excess glue off and the turret can still spin. Thankfully, those bits can go on pretty late in the process so you can take your time with it.

The iconic battle tank and armoured transport of the Leagues of Votann, the Hekaton Land Fortress is as venerable and well-respected as it is powerful. With a fearsome arsenal of heavy weaponry and tremendously resilient armour – and with the ability to bear bands of Kin soldiery into battle – it is a versatile military asset, and a formidable bulwark against any foe.
