Is your life missing a gigantic folkloric monster tearing apart a city? The creature at the center of Netflix’s Troll is here to help.

The trolls of Nordic folklore dwell in mountains and caves, away from human habitation. They’re extremely old, often grotesque, and very strong but slow. The beasts are known for kidnapping people and destroying farms and estates – as well as being described as man-eaters. They’re definitely creatures you want to avoid.

This ugly, dirt-covered dude does not want to hang out with you.

In this new disaster movie, a mythical beast awakens after a thousand-year nap and he’s super cranky. After he destroys a farmhouse and moves his way to more urban locales, a team of diverse folks gathers to figure out what the heck to do about this new foe with giant-sized feet and mitts that are able to palm a car.

This isn’t director Roar Uthaug’s first time at the disaster film rodeo. In 2015 he helmed The Wave, which is about a family running from the aftermath of a massive landslide. I’m hoping that his first venture into giant monsters has a couple of pinches of goofy fun along with the action, destruction, and crushing footsteps.

Netflix’s Troll Cast and Details

The giant monster movie stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Gard B. Eidsvold. Roar Uthaug (The Wave, Cold Prey, and 2018’s Tomb Raider) is directing.
